Senior Java Software Engineer - Real Time Payments Engineering Fintech - Wimbledon - paying upto £110,000
We're looking for an experienced Java Software Engineer to join a global Fintech based in South West London. The company develops high-performance technology solutions for leading financial institutions, helping them strengthen and modernise their payments capabilities.
About the role
You'll join the core engineering team responsible for building and enhancing a Real Time payments processing platform. The work involves designing and developing distributed systems that are highly scalable, resilient, and able to handle large transaction volumes. The environment is highly agile, with a strong focus on pair programming, TDD and BDD, and you'll have the chance to influence technical decisions and shape how new features are delivered.
Tech environment
- Java 17, Spring, Spring Boot
- Reactive programming with Akka
- Microservices architecture
- Kafka, JMS, RabbitMQ, ActiveMQ
- Docker/Kubernetes, AWS, MongoDB
What we're looking for
- Solid hands-on experience with Java 11+ (ideally Java 21)
- Good understanding of Reactive Programming concepts with Akka, WebFlux, RxJava etc.
- Experience working with microservices and distributed systems
- Background with Kafka and JMS related messaging tools
- Knowledge of Multithreading, concurrency, and performance tuning
- Familiarity with AWS and MongoDB
- Previous experience in financial services, ideally within payments
