Senior Business Analyst - Finance (Contract)

Senior Business Analyst - Finance

1 Year Contract

Based in London - 2 Days a week onsite

Day rate up to £535 Via Umbrella

The Senior Business Analyst (Finance) will be working in the Product Area that is responsible for the development of services that support the scenarios where payments are taken in the company platform. This includes providing functionality that supports user journeys where users need to access payment functionality or modify their payment preferences.

The systems for managing finance matter for both the customer and for the company. In accounting terms, this system is known as double entry accounting to cover all Services that relate to money.

Experience of the procurement process, understanding the key stages of procurement including supplier engagement, evaluation, contract award and requirements elicitation, definition and documentation.

Demonstrable experience of Business Process Improvement and business change deployment.

Expertise in designing and implementing payment solutions, preferably with experience in integrating them with SAP systems. This shall include familiarity with SAP modules related to financial management and integration methods (eg, SAP PI/PO, SAP HANA)

Proficiency in relevant programming languages and technologies such as well as experience with APIs and web services

You need to have Financial systems' experience ie worked in the Financial Section and have knowledge of financial concepts, processes, knowledge of types of databases for storage of financial data. You do not need to write programming languages. A BA with no experience or knowledge of Financial Systems would find it difficult to perform analysis, model and elicit requirements for use by the Product Owner and development teams.

The Agile BA will be working very closely with the Product Owner and relevant development teams. Their remit is to support the Product Owner. We have Agile BAs who are currently supporting and working with Product Owners in other Product Areas. They help elicit the requirements (high and low-level), perform analysis and produce detailed process models. The Product Owner (only) is accountable for the management and delivery of the back log

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS

Strong organiser:

  • Ability to balance competing tasks and demands effectively, such as ensuring that all analysis and requirements elicitation across multiple Journey Maps/User journeys, Areas, SMEs and workstreams are performed and an effective and timely manner to enable Agile artefacts and services to be built with a consistent quality and to optimise the flow of deliverables

  • Ability to Plan and manage own time and resources to effectively support the development pipeline, procurement process, data migration and other Product deliverables and objectives, such that all deliverables are achieved within timescales and costs.

An excellent stakeholder manager:

  • Skilled at engaging effectively with development teams, Product Owners and other Business and Technical stakeholders, working on complex, highly technical, Back End development, the wider areas of the programme and project, and Third Parties when necessary. Also ensuring that responses are given efficiently so as not to hold up delivery of Agile artefacts or development progress.

  • Capable at actively listening to, negotiating with and managing conflicts, in order to determine scope and prioritisation for teams, workstream activities, and to effectively collaborate with stakeholders and other technical roles to identify problems, determine solutions, and efficiently manage delivery of an integrated product, operational model or implement a data migration strategy (as applicable) across multiple development teams and technologies

Senior Business Analyst experience of at least 5 years on Agile projects of a similar size, scale and nature to Technical experience as a Senior Business Analyst:

  • Experience of working with development teams using Agile systems such as Azure technologies (to manage, requirements, test plans and scripts and other Agile artefacts); Digital Whiteboards, eg Mural and Miro; other requirements management tools and software

  • Experience in complex Back Office systems

Financial experience as a Senior Business Analyst:

  • Strong understanding of financial systems and processes, including knowledge of payment processing standards and protocols (eg, ISO 20022, SWIFT).

  • Experience working with databases (eg, SQL, NoSQL) for storing and retrieving financial data.

  • Demonstrable experience in the development of a full Enterprise Resource Planning System eg SAP and working with Payment Provider Systems eg CyberSource

  • Experience in PCI compliant payment solutions Excellent Requirements Engineering skills, including:

    • Eliciting concise business requirements for complex products within Public Sector environments, (that is: Financial Products, Digital Products, Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems and database systems), using a variety of techniques

    • Detailing stakeholder requirements in a variety of formats, including user stories and acceptance criteria, story maps, user journeys

    • Managing and tracking ongoing changes to requirements, using agreed change control processes where required

    • Ensuring traceability from high level requirements through to backlog items and other Agile artefacts for implementation

Excellent analytical skills, eg:

  • Analysing processes for data migration, using a variety of techniques and tools such as gap analysis, data mapping, Datamodelling techniques and data migration tools.

  • Analysing existing data sets to determine structure and purpose of data, in order to identify data gaps, data improvements

Excellent modelling skills to drive out business rules, aid collaboration and understanding including but not limited to:

  • Process flow diagrams

  • Use case diagrams

Experience of User Acceptance Testing and validation of outputs including generation of Test scripts, testing and recording defects, and prioritisation, tracking and re-testing of defects to inform go-live decisions
