Technical Business Analyst [TDD/BDD, Microservice, MQ, Cloud, API] (Contract)

Location: London Country: UK Rate: 350 GBP per day Outside IR35

We are hiring for Technical Business Analyst for our client's project based at London, UK - 1-2 days per week Onsite

Job Description:

A technical analyst - who has an understanding of application/technical architecture, should be able to explain the technology stack and flow of previous projects, preferred if has an understanding of Batch, API, Queues, MQ, cloud, etc. He/she should be able to understand or have experience, with Java micro services and angular/react, TDD/BDD, able to write user stories in detail and with technical information, write solutions. Should interact with the Solution architect, write the solution, and be able to explain it further.

Mandatory skills and knowledge:

  • Gathering and analysing business requirements: work with stakeholders to understand the requirements, both current and future. May have to conduct interviews, workshops, and surveys to gather the information. Later, analyse the requirements to identify gaps or conflicts, and to ensure that the requirements are aligned with overall goals and objectives of business.
  • Document functional & technical specifications/requirements/Capture NFR's if any.
  • Review the internal operations of a business, looking for problems and opportunities, offer suggestions for areas of improvement, provide recommendations for the improvement, articulate benefits from the improvements, define an implementation plan and define the success criteria. In short, capture as-is, recommend to-be, highlight gaps, define KPI's culminating into business case.
  • Communication skills: need to communicate effectively with all stakeholders, including business users, IT professionals, and senior executives. They should explain complex technical concepts in a way that is clear and easy to understand.
  • Interpersonal skills: ability to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders. Should listen actively and attentively, understand different perspectives, and resolve conflict.
  • Technical skills: have good understanding of business analysis tools and techniques, system development life cycles, and data querying.
  • Experienced at discovery on end-to-end business activities and finding ways of summarising material for different stakeholder types.
  • Ability to engage both operational staff and their managers to get wider perspective on how success is defined eg. need to find out how a task is done, why it is done that way (eg IT systems) and establishing differences.
  • Ability to get stakeholders to think beyond how things are done today and brainstorm what future could look like
  • Good judgement in defining the material required to deliver project the objectives.
  • Capturing business drivers that require changes to how things are done and the definition of what good looks like in the future for each activity (quantitative & qualitative)

Specifically for this opportunity:

  • Good at identifying and documenting scope.
  • Experience in identifying requirement gaps and conflicting/ambiguous requirements.
  • 10+ years of current and relevant hands-on experience as Business Analyst and Business Consultant.
  • Should have experience working in both SCRUM and Waterfall.
  • Should have experience in backlog management, participate in sprint planning, PI planning, functional testing, user story elaboration etc.
  • Should understand the overall product backlog and organize user stories under themes, epics, features etc. Connect the related user stories and tasks
  • Should be hands-on on one of the agile dashboards - Jira, Azure Boards, Rally or others.
  • Should operate both Kanban and Agile dashboards.
  • Communicate with all stakeholders including business and IT for project execution.
  • Pick-up domain knowledge and disseminate to IT/project team.
  • Should have presented business case with recommendation to senior management.
