One of our longest standing and largest clients are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Mainframe Assembler Developer.

Job requirements

To ensure successful delivery by being a team member of the software project team. The responsibilities include activities described in the software project life cycle. This would entail areas such as:

  • Requirement analysis: Analyse the requirements.
  • Design: Develop/review the technical design.
  • Coding: Analyse and develop code as per specifications.
  • Reviews: Conduct review of design/code/test plan and test results
  • Testing: Prepare unit test plans, Conduct unit testing
  • Support: Provide post development support.
  • Communication: Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self Sufficiency/Initiative: Demonstrate self-sufficiency on the role, combined with an initiative to resolve errors and provide solutions that attack the root cause of the problem.

Mandatory Skills:

  • Assembler Programs & ZO/S: Strong understanding of Assembler programs.
  • Strong reverse engineering (experience on ASM -> Cobol or some other modern language conversion) skill.
  • Strong understanding of Assembler macros.
  • File handling sequential and VSAM using Assembler.
  • Assembler interactive debugging skills (xpediter or similar tool) .
  • Job Control Language (JCL) - IN Stream & Catalogue Procedures, Control Cards, SDFS (Spool), SPICE, SAR & MVS JCL Utilities

Additional Skills:

  • Cobol Programs & ZO/S: Strong understanding of Cobol Programs (working storage, copy books & sub routines) and Z/OS concepts including Mainframe utilities. Hands on knowledge on Restartable programs.
  • CICS - Hands on with writing CICS programs in linkage with Front End Systems, Testing these programs and T'shoot any issues.
  • Note - Core CICS knowledge to build screens is NOT needed.
  • DB2 (SQL): Strong understanding of relational database concepts and advanced SQL, including SQL Error Codes
  • TSO, ISPF - Hands on Knowledge
  • Hands on Knowledge on REXX, EZYTRIEVE & SELCOPY
  • Tools - Endevor, File Manager, Road Runner, Fault Analyser, R2DS, RDz, RTC, SONAR, Jenkins

You will be expected to work from the Clients or Synechron's office 3 days a week.
