Data Analyst (Contract)

Location: Manchester Country: UK Rate: £450 - £500 per day
 

We are seeking a versatile Data Analyst to join our Data Protection and Privacy (DPP) Programme, which is a collection of data-driven projects dealing with vast amounts of critical operational and Legacy data. The role involves ensuring data availability, migration, and secure decommissioning of Legacy systems in accordance with data disposal and security policies. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the enterprise data strategy and improve data quality across all projects

Day to Day of the Role:

  • Analyse data in key operational systems and develop documentation that describes all data objects and their operational function.
  • Develop data dissemination diagrams for systems involved in delivering operational data.
  • Improve data quality through analysis of data management practices and identification of improvement initiatives.
  • Prepare data migration pathways between existing Legacy systems and strategic data stores.
  • Examine sources of low-quality data and develop solutions to improve data quality in key operational systems.
  • Create data dictionaries, data catalogues, and data models for policing within the organisation.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in Structured Query Language (SQL) across complex schemas, datasets, and systems.
  • Experience in data cleansing, preparation, and enterprise data management.
  • Knowledge of Datamodelling, data governance, and statistical programming.
  • Ability to create statistical data visualizations, dashboards, and reports.
  • Strong documentation authoring and communication skills.
  • Understanding of policing domain data is advantageous.
  • Problem-solving and solution development skills.
  • Commitment to data quality and continuous improvement.
