Job Title: Senior Data Scientist

Location: Hybrid/Bristol (Max 2. Days per week)

Remuneration: £70,000 - £90,000 per annum

Contract Details: Full-time, Permanent

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, refine, and execute our client's stochastic cyber risk model, ensuring its accuracy, performance, and scalability.
  • Perform complex data analysis to extract insights and identify trends in cyber risk using statistical and machine learning techniques.
  • Translate model insights into actionable strategies and tools for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with underwriters, engineers, and cyber risk analysts to integrate the cyber risk model with other systems and processes.
  • Stay updated with the latest developments in data science, cyber security, and risk modelling, incorporating innovative techniques and technologies into our client's models.

Our client, a pioneering company in the risk industry based in Bristol, UK, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Data Scientist to join their dynamic modelling team. Specialising in the cutting-edge domain of cyber risk, the organisation leverages advanced analytics and proprietary models to redefine the landscape of cyber risk assessment and management. As a Senior Data Scientist, you will play a pivotal role in the development and operationalization of their proprietary stochastic cyber risk model. Reporting directly to the Head of Data Science & Modelling, you will have the opportunity to make significant contributions to the advancement of their analytical capabilities and the broader field of cyber risk modelling.

Desired Qualifications:

  • At least 5 years of experience working as a data scientist/quantitative risk modeller, with a proven track record of operationalizing complex models and analytics.
  • A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field. Advanced degrees (MSc or PhD) are preferred.
  • Expertise in applied machine learning, probability, statistics, and quantitative risk modelling. High proficiency in Python & SQL. Experience with big data technologies and tools, particularly Databricks and Pyspark, is highly desirable. Experience in agile software development processes is a plus.
  • Experience in insurance, cyber, or a related domain is ideal. Understanding of the reinsurance industry and its challenges is a plus.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities, strong communication skills, and the capacity to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.

Renumeration:

In return for your expertise and contributions, our client offers a competitive salary range of £70,000 - £90,000 per year. Additional perks include hybrid working, health insurance, paid training, and employee discounts.

The role is based in Broadmead, Bristol, with nearby parking available at Mall Galleries, just a short 2-minute walk away. If you prefer public transportation, the office is a 18-minute walk from Bristol Temple Meads train station.
